Influence: the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

Who do you allow to influence you? Are you looking to people with experience, knowledge, a history of excellent performance in the area or position you are trying to obtain. The people we surround ourselves with are usually the ones that have the greatest influence on us. They have the best intentions, want us to succeed and know us well. However, if they have never traveled the path we are journeying we need to expand our circle of influence.

Connect with people in the position, field or business you are striving to enter. Use resources such as LinkedIn. Listen to podcasts, read books, papers, posts by those that resonate with you and inspire you to reach further. Expanding your circle allows you to hear more perspectives and hone in on what connects to purpose for you. As your goals change your circle of influence will expand in new directions. Find a mentor!

You will have different influencers based on the area you are wanting to explore further or ask for guidance about. As an example I have different circles for:

  • Finances
  • Healthcare
  • Wellness Business
  • Coaching Business
  • The field of Organ, Eye, and Tissue donation
  • Family life

Remember, YOU are an influencer also!

We have a responsibility to influence the people in our lives to be the best possible people they can be: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up”
